Getting ready with Akhona Namba

This photo essay has nothing to do with my capstone project because I could not go back to Zimbabwe to take photos of vendors over there. Instead, I asked Akhona Namba, a Drama Honours student to take pictures of her getting ready for her exam for the first semester. She was getting her makeup done by Lindeka Namba before she had to go on stage. We both got to go into the changing room that she shares with her fellow Drama class mate, Kwanisayi Mandimutsira.

In the first picture, we see Lindeka setting up the table with all the makeup that she is going to use on Akhona for her performance.

On the table we see, the makeup that Lindeka is going to use on Akhona, there is foundation, makeup brushes and various makeup pallettes

Lindeka then begins to shape Akhona's eyebrows so that it makes it easier for her to fill them in

Lindeka has now filled in Akhona's eyebrows and is brushing them with a spooly so that the eyebrow pencil blends naturally into her actual eyebrows

She then applies eyeshadow after she is done with the eyebrows

Lindeka then applies eyeliner to Akhona

This shows the eyeliner on both eyes

Lindeka applies mascara to Akhona

Akhona then gets her lips lined with a brown lip liner to give her lips more definition

Lindeka then applies the lipstick after the liner

She then sprays setting spray on Akhona so that the makeup doesn't come off whilst she is on stage acting out her piece

Akhona then puts on her earring before leaving to go and perform her piece
